Good Morning Angels: The Angels donate R100,000 to help breast cancer patient
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
The “Pink” Vodacom Bulls put on their Angel wings for breast cancer patient and single mom, Adéle Moll!
BACKGROUND: Breast cancer is the most common cancer among South African women. In fact, one in every 27 South African women, over the age of 15, are at risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, according to the National Cancer registry. As with all cancers, most breast cancer can be beaten with early diagnoses, treatment, and surgery - but the battle is severe and life-changing for most survivors and their loved ones.
One of these women, currently in the midst of her cancer fight, is 42-year-old single mom Adéle from Standerton.
Adéle was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after her divorce. As a mother and single breadwinner of three children, she cannot afford medical aid and relies on the state for her treatment. She has already been through “red devil” chemo and is currently on chemo once a week for twelve weeks. This means that she has to drive from Standerton to Pretoria, receive chemo and drive back, one day a week.
Adéle’s twin sister, Annelie, lives in Lydenburg in Mpumalanga. She is also a single mom but drives through to Standerton to help Adéle on chemo days, as often as she can.
The cost of keeping up with her state-funded breast cancer treatment is still too high and that’s why Annelie wrote to Good Morning Angels - to help them with the fuel and travel costs, to enable her to win the cancer battle and save her twin sister’s life.
#GetYourPinkOn
On Sunday, 30 October, the Vodacom Bulls will face the Cell-C Sharks, donning their official Pink away-gear at Loftus Versfeld - to show support for Breast Cancer Awareness, CANSA, and PinkDrive. Both teams will be playing with photos of women and men who have fought cancer on their jersey's number. Even though the teams will be battling it out on the field, they are standing united behind Breast Cancer Awareness. Kick off is at 3pm and tickets are available from R25 at Ticketpros.

ORIGINAL REQUEST:
Good Morning Jacaranda (Good Morning Angels)
My name is Annelie du Plessis (42). I am from Lydenburg Mpumalanga and I have a twin sister, Adéle Moll from Standerton. She found out she has XXX-negative breast cancer. She is currently receiving red devil chemotherapy. Adéle is a divorced mother of 3 children. She is the only breadwinner and she is struggling to keep up with finances to travel to Pretoria to go for chemotherapy at Steve Biko. She has to go for more chemotherapy after the red devil chemo treatment - the next treatment will be once a week for 12 weeks. Can you please assist my lovely sister with a diesel voucher for the 12 weeks that she needs to go for chemotherapy. Please, she really needs this. Please, I beg you from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you,
Annelie du Plessis
