Good Morning Angels Festive Edition: Christmas joy for the Lighthouse Baby Shelter
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
The Angels came together to spread some Christmas cheer for the Lighthouse family and baby shelter.
BACKGROUND: The Lighthouse Baby Shelter was founded in June 2008 by Eleanor Dustan. Dustan has been passionate about children all her life and as a mother of two daughters, used to take orphans into her home for holidays and weekends. Her shelter has over the past 13 years taken in over 200 babies and toddlers - most of them have found new families through adoption. Dustan has a family of 13 permanent children, most of whom have been with her from the start. She also takes in babies and little ones who need temporary shelter.
The Lighthouse Baby Shelter also has a door in the garden wall called, ‘The Moses Basket', where unwanted babies can be placed anonymously. Lighthouse also has an outreach programme into the Zandspruit Informal Settlement in Honeydew. They share any excess donations of food and clothing with community mothers, children, and child-headed households, as well as the numerous street children who are in need. This gets distributed through a church in the community. Together with a community pastor, they also create awareness of the shelter and the help that they offer to women and children in the community.
A member of the Facebook Group 'I Love Fourways', Izaan Bryant, asked the community for assistance for Dustan and her children and Good Morning Angels reached out, to make sure the Lighthouse family has a Merry Christmas!

ORIGINAL REQUEST:
Hey Community!
Lighthouse Baby Shelter remains one of the longest-running shelters for abused and abandoned children in Johannesburg. From first-hand experience, these people are doing God's work looking after the kids.
With Christmas coming up, a lot of people donate second-hand toys and clothing, but so many of these kids don't know what it's like to have a new pair of shoes or clothes.
If anyone wants to help in getting these kids a pair of shoes and a toy, please message me to sponsor a child.
We can pop some Christmas magic into these kids' lives!
Izaan Bryant
The Good Morning Angels Festive Edition is proudly sponsored by Roman's Pizza.
