A new leg for 56-year-old Lalie Reynecke
On Wednesday’s Good Morning Angels, the Angels came together to help 56-year-old state pensioner Lalie Reynecke with a new prosthetic leg after doctors were forced to amputate her leg.
What or who would inspire a crazy darts enthusiast and his club to play a marathon match of darts non-stop for 60 hours and one minute? That’s right, a game of darts that carried on for two and a half days and nights!
The answer is... Lalie Reyneke, that’s who!
Lalie is a 56-year-old state pensioner, who is described by those who know her as a remarkable woman, who inspires hope with her resilience in the face of life-altering adversity.
In 2021, she suffered a seemingly insignificant cut to her leg. This swiftly turned into a battle for survival, as she contracted a flesh-eating bacteria, with doctors ultimately forced to amputate her leg to save her life.

Since that fateful day, Lalie has endured numerous surgeries, including two additional amputations. Physically and mentally, the journey has been gruelling, testing her strength and determination. But Lalie has never given up - her spirit remains unbreakable.
It was this fight for survival that inspired Rick van Wyk from the Log Cabin Knights Darts Club to do something that's never been done before, to raise funds and awareness for Lalie, in order to help her secure a prosthetic leg.
The cost of the leg is R90,000 - which she cannot afford on a state pension. Rick and the club managed to raise R30,000 - not quite enough - so they reached out to Good Morning Angels.

SPONSORING: Rick and the club have managed to set the new Guinness World record by continuously playing a single darts game, for 60 hours and 1 minute - that’s two and a half days and nights of darts! They managed to raise R30 000 for Lalie’s prosthetic leg with their Guinness World Record attempt and fundraising. They will donate this to Lalie to help with other costs and to “give her a leg up”.

The current record stands at an astonishing 58 hours and 58 minutes, an astounding testament to endurance and determination. On the weekend of 4 to 6 August 2023 , 2 players from the Log Cabin Knights Darts Club, aims to break this record by playing for an astonishing 60 hours and 1 minute—a feat that symbolizes Lalie's unwavering willpower and determination to overcome any obstacle in her path.
But Lalie's journey doesn't end with a world record attempt. Behind this extraordinary endeavour lies a heartfelt cause that requires our support. Lalie is in desperate need of financial assistance, with a prosthetic limb costing in excess of R90,000. Additionally, she faces various other financial burdens that hinder her ability to live a fulfilling and independent life.
