I once had a boyfriend that everyone hated and they made it abundantly clear, making dinners and family gatherings awkward and uncomfortable. They turned out be right about him, but I often wonder how it would have been had I married him.
Thankfully my family love my husband like a son, his family not so much with me, but I'm accepted. However, I have a friend who is married to a woman, with kids of their own and her family don't even speak to him.
