How one man is getting through his grief by sewing toys
Updated | By Danny Painter
Moses Rombayi came to South Africa to find a better life. Little did he know that tragedy was waiting to send his life in a completely different direction.
Having suffered from Polio as a child, Moses moved to South Africa from Zimbabwe to start his career as a tailor and fell in love with the country and the people!

In the early years of him being here, he watched seamstresses and fell in love with the idea of making toys! And so, #FriendofMoses was born! He takes great pride in the quality of his toys. He uses fabric which is donated to him and purchases authentic African-inspired fabrics to give true authenticity. All his toys have zips so the stuffing can be taken out for ease of washing. Toys have labels and washing instructions can be added where required.
During this time living in Orange Farm, Moses' youngest son, Bradley, ingested Rat Poison and tragically lost his life. Moses used his gifts to turn the tragedy into something positive, creating the Elisha Unicorn in memory of his beloved son!
But, he hasn't stopped there! Moses is becoming popular both in Africa and in Europe and needs to expand! He has started a campaign to raise funds for an embroidery machine and a button hole machine!
