Joburg school teaches kids a big lesson about pollution!
Updated | By Danny Painter
The best education is through experience and a Dainfern school took that to the next level to teach the pupils about pollution!

In an article published on the Good things Guy, Dainfern College used their annual Swim-A-Thon to highlight the problem of pollution in our water.
The Swim-a-Thon, which has become a tradition at the college over the years, has the Prep School students swim lengths to raise funds. As the students got ready for their big day in the crystal clear waters of the pool, the High School team had other plans - polluting the pool with plastic bottles so that the students could experience the devastating effects plastic pollution has on our planet, making it difficult to navigate and swim through for both human children as well as sea and river life. Closing the disconnect.
According to the website, "Oceans cover three-quarters of the Earth’s surface, contains 97% of the Earth’s water, and represent 99% of the living space on the planet by volume. As much as 40% of the world oceans are heavily affected by human activities, including pollution, depleted fisheries, and loss of coastal habitat. – United Nations, Sustainable Development Goals".

After the race, all of the plastic was cleaned up but the message remained, and has since gone viral on social media, sparking conversations and setting in motion discussions on how to live in a better, more sustainable way for both us and our environment!
How will you teach your kids about pollution?
