More men are 'marrying up' than women!
Updated | By Danny Painter
'Marrying-up" usually refers to marrying above your economic class, often improving one's social mobility in the process. According to science, more men are doing it these days.
According to Science Daily, the reason behind this is that the number of highly educated women has increased in recent decades, so, the chances of "marrying up" has increased significantly for men.
But, does it matter?
Well, in a short answer, not really. Unless you prefer your man to wear the proverbial pants.
Marriage is now becoming more equal. Equality is a wonderful thing, but it can put a damper on a marriage when the woman is bringing home the bacon and the man is bringing home, well, less. Although, the same study found that women complain more about this than men...
How do we navigate these waters and raise well-adjusted kids?
The answer is simple, as this video explains. Know what you bring to the table. Are you fun? Adventurous? An amazing dad and homemaker? That should be enough for you and your partner. You need to have the real conversation about the roles within your relationship, regardless of gender stereotypes.
What are you comfortable with? What responsibilities, financial and otherwise are you willing to take up? Or let go of? These are the things you need to speak openly about and decide on your normal together.
Are you ok if you wife brings home more than you?
