Beyoncé wears diamond mined in Kimberley
Updated | By Mornings with Mack
Award-winning powerhouse Beyoncé has been captured wearing the iconic Tiffany Yellow Diamond.
The 128.54 carat stone was mined at the Big Hole in Kimberley in South Africa in 1877.
Precious metals giant Tiffany & Co. founder Charles Lewis Tiffany acquired the 287.42-carat rough stone the following year.
The iconic rough diamond was then shipped to Paris where gemologist, Dr. George Frederick Kunz, cut the diamond into a cushion-shape diamond sized at 128.54 carats with 82 facets.

Beyoncé is only the fourth woman to ever wear the stone – the first black woman to do so.
Beyoncé appears alongside her rapper husband Jay-Z in the ad campaign "celebrating modern love".
The piece was first worn in 1957 by socialite Mary Whitehouse, and then it was most famously worn by actress Audrey Hepburn in 1961 when she did publicity for her film, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”
