Boy sells lemonade to raise money for his own adoption

Tristan Jacobson from Springfield, Missouri has been selling lemonade, but unlike other children who may be doing it to make a bit of pocket money, he is doing it for a more touching reason.

Tristan has had a very sad childhood.

According to his guardian, Donnie Davis, Tristan's mom had another baby and went back to school, making it difficult for her to properly look after Tristan.

Davis claims the young boy would always have dirty and ripped clothes on, but the turning point came when she received a call from the police saying Tristan was abandoned at a homeless kids' center in town.

Although Davis tried to adopt Tristan legally, the challenge was raising enough money for the adoption, which would cost R144,757.50.

"The beginning of this year, we said we were going to do the legal adoption,” she told Huffington post.

The family tried all it could, like giving up their vacation and downgrading to cheaper cellphones, but when that was not enough, Tristan stepped in to help.

His lemonade has reportedly helped the family raise R94,092.38, and the family also set up a fundraising page on YouCaring.com, which raised an additional R130,281.

According to the report, the adoption will be finalised by October.

“Tristan’s so excited,” Davies told the publication.
