Can you really buy a car for just R150 per month in SA?
Updated | By Mack Rapapali Nights
South Africans were left shocked after discovering a car that could cost them R 150,00 per month in installments.
Have you been setting some money aside to purchase a new car?
Well, there is a newly found R150/pm for a car that is topping trends on social media. It began as a joke on Twitter that a car would be as cheap as R150 a month. The car is called Bajaj Qute.
Spoiler alert; however, the Bajaj Qute does not qualify as a car. In fact, according to Bajaj the vehicle falls under what is called a quadricycle. This is because of the car's characteristics, which are those of a three-wheeler and a car.
The Qute is designed to offer convenience for congested cities. It weighs 481 kilograms with a maximum speed of 70 km per hour. Its carbon footprint is significantly less than that of big cars and it poses less threat to pedestrians and cyclists.
Have a look at the specs below.
Dimensions
Length: 2752 mm
Width: 1312 mm
Height: 1652 mm
Wheel Base: 1925 mm
Wheel Track: 1143 mm
Turning Circle Radius: 3.5 m
The vehicle can transport four adults, including the driver and it has a luggage compartment capable of transporting goods weighing 20 kgs in the bonnet and 40 kgs on the roof if you install rails.
Performance
Max. Speed: 70 km/h, 5th gear
Max. Gradeability: 18% (10.2 degree) for CNG 20% (11.30 degree) for Petrol; in first gear.
The Bajaj Qute has a 0.6 engine capacity and can do 36 kilometers with just a litre of petrol. The car can carry four passengers at a time, including the driver.
Unfortunately, the car is not R150 a month; the Bajaj Qute retails at R75 000 and is available in Madagascar, Mozambique, and South Africa.
Watch some videos of the car circulating online:
Going to work costs around 2xR20 a day using a taxi and 5x40=R200 weekly. Why not buy this car and pay R150 per month!? pic.twitter.com/3WXYL6E8Nv
