A firefighter is making headlines after he adopted the baby girl he delivered during an emergency call.

Marc Hadden of the Myrtle Beach Fire Department and his wife have always wished to have more children after the birth of their two sons, but sadly couldn’t.  “My wife was basically told to wrap it up, that any further pregnancies could cause complications for her and for the potential baby. We had in our hearts that we wanted to adopt, but checking into it, we learned very quickly on a police officer, firefighter and teacher salary, we were not going to be able to afford it,” Hadden told MSN.

But Hadden and his wife would have their prayers answered in a way they couldn’t have imagined. Hadden was called to rescue a woman suffering from abdominal pains. Upon arrival, he learned that the woman was in fact in labour.

But soon after delivering the baby, Hadden says he “heard the doctors telling the nurse she’s being put up for adoption, immediately, I said, jokingly, ‘I’d like to throw my name in the hat’.” Thankfully, the request was granted. The new parents have named the baby girl Gracie.

“Never did I think that it would become a reality less than 48 hours later. I love my boys more than life itself, but Gracie has me wrapped around her finger, there’s no doubt about it,” the proud father told reporters.

Gracie is now five and adores her family. See the cute family in the video below.
