If you've ever suspected that your Facebook data has been hacked, leaked, or even misused by third parties, chances are that it has.
Remember the Facebook data leak that made headlines back in 2019? Here's something troubling for you to ponder - that information is still somewhere out there!

If you're worried that your information has been exposed, you can easily check using your phone number. Have I Been Pwned? is a free resource for anyone to check if their data may have been exposed or if their online account has been compromised by hackers. Troy Hunt, who is a data breach expert, shared on Tuesday that people can now input their phone numbers on the site to see if they had been hacked and the steps they could follow to protect themselves.

Have I Been Pwned? suggests these security precautions people can take if they find their data in a breach:
Step 1 - Use 1Password to generate and save strong passwords for each website. Don't use the same password for every site.
Step 2 - Enable 2-factor authentication. This can be annoying when you constantly have to log back in with a code but it's worth your while if you want to keep your account safe.
Step 3 - Allow notifications for breaches and change your password.
You can now search @haveibeenpwned for phone numbers in the Facebook data. Here's why, and how it works: https://t.co/xUnMTE26Ms

A data breach is quite a big deal because information such as email addresses, phone numbers, and even people's dates of birth end up in the wrong hands.
A leak of phone numbers, emails, and birthdates linked to Facebook accounts is a big deal even if it is two years old because these are not things that people change often, if ever. https://t.co/n7t2Fcn8bD
