Man wears all his clothes to avoid paying R970 baggage charge
Matt Botten went to extreme lengths to avoid paying the extra £45 (about R970) baggage charge. He decided to wear all his clothes, and even went as far as putting a pair of shoes in his pockets.
Flying can be quite costly, especially if you have to think about the extra money you have to pay if you have excess baggage.
At times, this could even cost as much as buying another plane ticket.
In South Africa, if you have extra luggage, you could find yourself paying an extra R250 per piece of item.
But one man from Cardiff refused to let extra baggage charge stop him from going to Iceland for a holiday with his girlfriend.
When Matt was told that he needs to pay the extra £45 baggage charge by EasyJet flight , he decided to unpack all his luggage and put all the clothes on his body. He wore multiple T-shirts, jumpers, trousers and even went as far as putting an extra pair of shoes in his pocket.
This of course shocked security guards, and resulted in him having to answer many questions from them.
However, he still got away with it, and took his excitement to Facebook:
“And how to do it in a financially frugal manner, without having to stump up forty five bloody quid for a hold bag? Simply by wearing EVERYTHING I OWN."
However, be warned, doing what Matt did might be dangerous. In 2015, James McElvar from the Rewind band passed out from heat exhaustion after he also decided to wear all his luggage to avoid paying the baggage charge.
