Countless women find themselves dealing with horrible period pains every month. That, for most women, results in skipping work, mood swings or abnormal pains that require pain killers.

Recent research has even revealed that period pains are as painful as a heart attack.

However, a new invention, Livia - The Off Switch for Menstrual Pain, promises to help woman deal with menstrual pains in seconds.

"Over 50% of women suffer primary menstrual cramps, for which they consume large amounts of painkillers. Livia uses a pain relief method that does not involve drug consumption. The idea is to close the "pain gates". The device stimulates the nerves, making it impossible for pain to pass. The method Livia uses has been proven effective in several clinical studies and I strongly recommend the use of the device to relieve PMS at any time," Professor Bari Kaplan of Women’s Hospital in Beilinson was quoted as saying on livia.com.

Livia will be available from October and will be sold for an estimated price of R2,200.
