If you have ever found an old coin lying around and wondered if it was worth anything, then take a look at this list and check if your coins are one of these.
1. Single 9 Pond (1898)
First up, this coin is the most valuable coin in South Africa, and it has a whopping value of R15-million.
2. Kruger Double Nine Ponds (1899)
There were originally 130 of these coins minted, and because of this scarcity, the coins are worth around R1.5-million each.
3. Burgers Pond Coarse Beard (1874)
These coins are the second batch of Burgers Ponds, but during production the dyes broke resulting in these coarse coins. Only 142 were completed and today their value stands at R1-million.
4. Sammy Marks Tickey (1898)
While this coin never actually entered circulation, they were created as a recognition of Sammy Marks, a businessman. Only 215 were made and they are worth around R750,000.

5. Mandela 90th Birthday Coin (2008)
Now, this is a coin you are more likely to have. These coins were minted to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday. Roughly 22-million of these were minted, and even so, they are worth around R150,000.
