Teacher connects with students using a secret handshake
Updated | By Poelano Malema
Apart from the actual education side of things, teachers can have an influence on the way children view themselves, and those teachers that go beyond their line of duty deserve to be noticed and applauded.
One such teacher is Thomas Bussey. Bussey works at Centennial Academy in Atlanta and has a very special relationship with all his pupils; a relationship that goes beyond just teaching.
"I have a secret handshake with all of my students. This is the way that I greet them at the door when they arrive in the morning and how we say goodbye at the end of each day," he captioned the video which he put on his Facebook page.
Bussey says the shakes started at the beginning of the year when he taught his pupils how to do a handshake. He then asked them to share their own personalised handshakes with him, making them feel special.
The handshakes, which often end in hugs, make classes feel more family orientated, Bussey said.
His video was posted on YouTube and it received a lot of love from the public.
