Terrifying footage shows car being swept away in Gauteng floods

At least six people have died and several others are recovering from injuries in hospital following the Gauteng floods that started on Wednesday, IOL reported.
The floods have also resulted in dozens of cars being swept away. “Over 150 cars were affected with at least 10 pushed off the highway and down an embankment and completely submerged,” Emer-G-Med spokesperson Maxwell Cohen told the publication.

A video of a Hyundai being washed away in the floods in the Juskei River has also emerged. A young woman, who is believed to be the owner of the car, can be heard screaming as the car is swept away by the water.

Meanwhile, JMPD’s Edna Mamonyane has warned motorists from driving towards roads that are flooded. “We would ask motorist to be aware, if you’re driving towards a road that is flooded, please don’t go towards the flood because you don’t know what the water levels are,” Mamonyane told Eye Witness News.
