Twitter erupted when DA leader Mmusi Maimane came out 'in defense' of South Africa following President Jacob Zuma's recent statements about the governing party and the country.
It all started with President Jacob Zuma saying that the ANC comes first before South Africa at an ANC elective conference in KwaZulu-Natal over the weekend.
DA leader Mmusi Maimane then responded with a statement assuring citizens that the DA would always put South Africa first before it's interests. Nothing new there.
Things took a turn on Twitter when Maimane then posted this tweet:
What I will not allow in South Africa is the re racialization of our people for political populism and polarization. It must be one nation

And my, did the Twitter rains come pouring down via the hashtag #ThingsMaimaneWillNotAllow. It was much needed relief during a time of 'political action' drought:
