Watch: The Jungle Book teaser trailer
Updated | By Minenhle Khoza
This teaser trailer of The Jungle Book remake has got us
really excited.
The next big Disney remake is here! Well, the actual movie isn’t here yet, it's only due for release in April 2016, but the trailer was released on Tuesday and that’s better than nothing, right?
Disney is on a mission to remake most (if not all) of its prominent animated movies into epic, live action blockbusters. Some of the Disney classics set to be remade and turned into live action features in the future include: Beauty and The Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Winnie the Pooh, just to name a few.
The Jungle Book is one of the first movies to be completed in Disney’s live action remake mission and, judging by the new trailer, it’s going to be epic.
The original Jungle Book movie was released all the way back in 1967 and was based on stories by Rudyard King about Mowgli, a little boy who was raised in the jungle by wolves.
The 2016 remake looks a more darker and serious film, seemingly letting go of the goofy and relaxed nature of the original.
It features a star-studded cast which includes Lupta Nyong’o as mother wolf Raksha, Bill Murray as Baloo the Bear, Idris Elba as Shere Khan the tiger, Christopher Walken as King Louie, Ben Kingsley as the panther Bagheera, and Scarlett Johansson as the evil python Kaa. Newcomer Neel Sethi plays the role of Mowgli.
And in case you’d forgotten what the original film looked like…
