WATCH: What it's like to take out rubbish in the South Pole

Have you ever wondered what's it's like to live in the South Pole, where it's dark for half the year? This video might shed some light.

A TikTok user who currently lives in the South Pole shared details about a mundane task most of us do without too much thought - taking out the rubbish bin.

Antarctica's Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station is one of the most isolated and coldest places on earth. One of the crew members, Josiah Horneman, who is a traveller and physician assistant, shows step by step, how a simple task such as taking out the rubbish takes more effort in sub-zero temperatures.

He regularly posts videos on TikTok about life in the coldest place on earth and the videos have already been liked over three-million times.

In the video, Horneman shows the temperature gauge which shows -70°F (-56,67°C), then opens a large metal gate while pushing a bin full of rubbish into a cargo-only lift.

He then explains the entire process, from separating rubbish into a recycling landfill to how long it actually takes for them to take it out.
