Woman files a court order against forced marriage

MSN reports that Sheraz, a law student, married Ali Ahmed, 24, in Pakistan despite her family’s disapproval. “I am so proud of myself for standing up to my father. I’ve always been terrified of him but I fell in love with Ali and took a risk. It was worth it for love. Nothing else matters and I want other women in my position to know that,” she told Mirror.
Sheraz added that although she may have lost her family, she feels good that she stood up for her rights. “All I’ve ever wanted is to be happy. I’ve lost my whole family but I don’t regret anything. I have stood up for myself as a woman and as a human being and I hope other women are able to see the law is there to intervene and stop this happening,” she added.

“I have always been an activist for women and girl children’s equal rights. Its saddening that in 2016, we still come across stories like these were women and girl children are still being subjected to the rule of men and being oppressed purely cause of their gender,” says Bridget.
