Mother and son attacked at ATM
Updated | By Poelano Malema

A video has gone viral showing a Zimbabwean mother and son being attacked at an ATM in Polokwane, Limpopo.
Jeanette van Vuuren and her son Tony had just withdrawn money from an ATM when two panga-wielding criminals attacked them.
It appears the robbers were after money Van Vuuren was carrying in a moon bag.
The robbery happened on March 3.
The woman's brother, Bruce van Vuuren, told Sowetan they were in Polokwane to apply for South African residency.
“They were coming to the Department of Home Affairs to apply for residency because our mother was born here. They landed up at the garage and they were attacked by the men…they were after her money."
The incident occurred shortly after the SAPS released its 2016 crime statics last week which show an increase in the contact crime category. Robbery with aggravating circumstances has increased by 6.1%.
