Al Venter: The world's oldest war correspondent

Rian van Heerden spoke to Al Venter - the oldest active war correspondent in the world.
Currently living in the UK, Al J. Venter (83) is a South African war journalist, documentary filmmaker, and author of over forty books as well as a former Africa and Middle East correspondent. Venter served as an Acting Leading Seaman in the South African Navy from 1956 to 1960.

Throughout his career, Venter has covered several wars in Africa, beginning in 1967 with the Nigerian Civil War. In the 1970s, Venter also reported in Uganda while under the reign of Idi Amin.
Venter spoke to Rian van Heerden from the UK about his work as a war correspondent and the deadly conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
"For the first time in my life, I thought, it's not impossible that he (Putin) can pull us all down with him."
