This comes after Bonang Matheba commented on the South African National Monument project, creating tension in the arts and culture industry.
Former 'Top Billing' presenter Matheba came across a video from an interview with JJ Tabane and Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa.

In the interview, the two discussed a government plan to raise a 120-meter flag, which is estimated to cost about R22-million.
Matheba initially expressed that the minister ought to be fired.
Before tweeting to the minister that he should rather retire from his position because he really does not know what he is doing.

The anger of Matheba stems from the fact that during the blockade of COVID-19, when artists were left unemployed, they turned to Mthethwa and his department, who failed to extend support regarding social grants to bring about financial relief.
