Centurion cash heist leaves security guard injured

One security guard was injured during a heist in Centurion on Monday, 28 May.

One more incident was added to the growing list of cash-in-transit heists when on Monday, 28 May a delivery was interrupted at a shopping centre in Centurion.

Footage from surveillance cameras outside the Heeuweloord, Centurion store shows a man carrying bags, presumably containing money, heading towards a vehicle. Moments later, a group of armed men arrive on the scene.

The security guard throws his hands up and surrenders to the thieves, who promptly flee the scene. But things take a turn as he walks towards the vehicle: he falls down in pain, apparently after being shot.
Reports from the scene state that the security guard was shot once in the leg; paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital.
