Chef Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen announced as Eat Out Awards judge
Michelin Star chef Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen has been announced as one of the Eat Out Woolworths Restaurant Awards judges for 2022.
Chief judge Abigail Donnelly has announced her judging panel for the upcoming Eat Out Woolworths Restaurant Awards.

Joining her in 2022 are Michelin Star chef Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen, chef Karen Dudley, sommelier Moses Magwaza, food activist and cookbook author Mokgadi Itsweng, and food writer and broadcaster Anna Trapido.
“Each judge has a distinct perspective and valuable expertise. I chose Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen because, as a South African, I admire him and the industry does too. He will bring a uniquely South African philosophy that will inspire young chefs."
In 2016, less than three years after opening its doors, restaurant JAN received its first Michelin Star.

In October 2017, Van der Westhuizen launched his first SAFTA-winning TV show, also entitled, 'JAN'.
His third cookbook, released at the end of 2021, celebrated the ingredients and cuisine of the Kalahari, which was an enormous inspiration in the creation of his restaurant, Klein JAN.
'JAN The Journal' is his prestigious luxury food and lifestyle publication with mouth-watering recipes that are being published by JAN Innovation Studio in Cape Town - a creative space open for private functions.
In 2021, he hosted and cooked for President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Van der Westhuizen is a South African jewel that is locally and internationally treasured.
