8 December marks the annual Jacaranda FM staff party. Rian set out to ask the question: how well do you really know your colleagues?
The annual staff party can be one of two things: buckets of fun, or incredibly awkward.
People put decorum aside and the drinks are usually flowing freely. Two of the main ingredients needed for a party disaster.
Is there anything more disastrous than mistaking your manager for the receptionist? If you took the time to really got to know your colleagues during the year, you would be less likely to make such an embarrassing mistake.
This year, Rian wants to help all Jacaranda FM staffers to avoid this blunder, by having them introduce themselves one by one.
First up, Glen Kapetanopoulos, the advertising and traffic manager. All ads and presenter live-reads have to go through him first. Here he is looking incredibly festive:
Glen has been at Jacaranda FM since 1997, and is known for dressing up and nailing almost every single theme party at the station.
Melody Cohen is more of a behind-the-scenes person here at Jacaranda. Melody is the sales manager, and is in charge of the in-house team and makes sure that they reach target so that Jacaranda FM makes money. Melody has been with us for ten years.
If you're wondering who has been in charge of the wellbeing of Jacaranda staffers, then you'll be glad to meet Dané van Niekerk. Dané is the Human Resources manager, and always goes the extra mile to make sure everyone who works at Jacaranda carries the brand name with pride.
One of the people who keeps the bosses on track every day is Mmabatho Makhajane. Mmabatho is General Manager Kevin Fine's Personal Assistant, and she decides who can see Kevin and who can't.
If you stay on Mmabatho's good side, you can get a lot done at Jacaranda FM.
Competitions are the best part of listening to radio, right? Well if you have ever won one of Jacaranda's incredible competitions, then you have definitely dealt with Stephen Tshaka.
Stephen has been in charge of Jacaranda's competitions and promotions since 2013. He is the one who makes sure producers and presenters execute all the competitions seamlessly.
