Five unforgettable moments on The Scenic Drive with Rian
Updated | By The Scenic Drive with Rian
Rian van Heerden is nominated in the 'Radio Presenter of the Year' and 'TV Presenter of the Year' categories for the Huisgenoot Tempo Awards. To celebrate, here's a look at some of the fun we've had on the show this year.
Rian is proud to receive a nomination in not one but two of the categories of the 2018 Huisgenoot Tempo Awards. He is up for 'Radio Presenter of the Year' for The Scenic Drive with Rian, as well as 'TV Presenter of the Year' for KykNET's Skelmpie.

To celebrate Rian's nomination, we're looking back at five of this year's most memorable on-air moments.
Listeners will know that Rian loves to show appreciation for his hometown of Randfontein. He combined this with his penchant for doing good deeds when he took a family through the studio setup, showing them a little bit of what happens behind the scenes at Jacaranda FM. Ockert de Jager and his children got a feel for what it really takes to make radio magic.
Rian is very open and honest with his audience, often taking them into his confidence. It was no surprise, then, that Rian was so candid about his struggles with finding a date online. He mused about why finding someone on Tinder was so difficult, and listeners could relate.
Rian wants to share his milestones with as many listeners as he can, and at the launch of his first book, 16 Dinge Wat Ek Nié Moes Sê Nie, there was a large crowd that allowed him to do just that. The evening was filled with laughter and, of course, Rian's trademark engaging storytelling style.
Rian is not afraid to put himself out there, whether it is by sharing opinions that no one else will or, when the mood is right, by getting the party started on the dancefloor.
During The Scenic Drive's car giveaway, Rian showed the contestants what a dance-off really looks like by breaking it down to Sun-El Musician and Mlindo the Vocalist's track, Bamthathile.
But perhaps the most spectacular moment of the year came when Rian fulfilled his childhood dream of performing with award-winning acapella supergroup Ladysmith Black Mambazo right here at the Jacaranda FM studios!
The members of Ladysmith Black Mambazo were gracious enough to perform 'Diamonds On the Soles of her Shoes' - Rian played the part of Paul Simon for a day. The joy on his face in that moment says it all. These are just a few of the fun moments from this year. Stick with us as we close out the rest of 2018 in our very own Scenic Drive style.
Remember to vote for Rian to win 'TV Presenter of the Year' and 'Radio Presenter of the Year' at the Huisgenoot Tempo Awards!
