Do you think Valentine's Day is a 'money-making scam'?
Today is the day that loved ones are spoiled with expensive gifts, but would you pay R700 for a bouquet of roses to show your love for someone special?
Checkers is selling a bouquet of 50 roses for R700 - and social media is not happy about this.
Media personality, Gershawn Coetzee, posted a picture of the roses at Checkers Protea Heights on Facebook. The picture of roses went viral.
Glen Roberts commented that it is just a 'Money making scam'. Celeste-Mellet Groenewald wrote; "Joh! I think a flower picked from a garden has way more value."
Branch Manager Wessel du Plessis told Business Insider that no one mentioned that the roses might be overpriced in the supermarket. "We have received very good response from them since we displayed them yesterday,” he added.
