Iran defender's hilarious throw-in fail

Iran's Milad Mohammadi attempted to put some flair into his throw-in during the Iran vs Spain game at the World Cup. The result left spectators flabbergasted.
Football players participating in the World Cup have countless opportunities to show off their skills and steal the spotlight. Even something as simple as throwing a ball into play from the corner could catapult a player to fame.
Just ask Iran's Milad Mohammadi. During the 94th minute of the match between Iran and Spain, the defender stood at the corner of the field, ready to throw the ball in. What he did next shocked commentators and football fans alike.
My absolute highlight of the World Cup so far is the failed front flip throw in by Iran in the last minute of #irn v #esp #IRNSPA pic.twitter.com/MeH9Wm1ESt

The defender says a short prayer before lifting the ball up into the air and, before throwing it in, does a gymnastics flip. At the last second, Mohammadi decides not to throw the ball.

Instead, he takes a few steps backwards and decides to do a more traditional throw-in. But it is too late: the internet has already recorded his attempt at extravagant play.
For me, the best moment is immediately after, when he's setting up to try again, but the center official is having none of it. You want to be fancy, I guess you have to get it right the first time.

IMAGINE YOUR COUNTRY HAVE ONE FINAL CHANCE TO SNATCH A POINT FROM SPAIN AND YOUR FULL-BACK CONTEMPLATES A FRONT-FLIP THROW IN LMAOOO

Doesn't matter who wins the world cup, the Iran lad who attempted a flip throw in the dying seconds when his country was trailing 1-0 will forever be the moment of the tournament.

Was this Milad Mohammadi's attempt at distracting spectators from his team's 1-0 loss to Spain? Whatever it was, Mohammadi's actions have certainly earned him a top spot in World Cup history.
