Jeremy spent a few years in South Africa in the early 90s, covering the country's transition to democracy. He spoke briefly about meeting former President Nelson Mandela:

Having spent 50 years in the news industry, Jeremy has seen journalism go through many changes. Now, in the time of instant news via social media, Jeremy has said that 'the onus falls on journalists ... to be the guiding beacon of the truth'. Speaking on the impact social media has on the news cycle, Jeremy says: 'It's almost as if breaking news has been overtaken by the speed of social media and fake news.'

Jeremy believes journalists need to earn back the trust of the public, convincing them that news outlets are still truth-oriented, balanced and impartial.

In his new autobiography, Breaking News, Jeremy writes about some of the milestones of his storied career.
