Updated | By Scenic Drive with Rian
Wayde van Niekerk, the Olympic 400m champion and world record holder, is now in Italy practicing for the World Athletics Championships.
With the World Athletics Championships, which will be held in Oregon from July 15 to July 2022 the athlete is spending some time away from the track while preparing.
The sprinter is not all work and no pleasure, as he is taking time away from the track to relax with his family.

Van Niekerk shared a few of images of himself, his wife Chesney, and their first-born baby Elijah vacationing in Gemona del Friuli, Italy, on his Facebook page.
"It's wonderful to be back in Gemona del Friuli, Italy, with my family and team. The perfect place to admire the beauty of nature while also recovering and regaining my fitness before competing in the World Championships. The next three weeks will be crucial... "I'm putting my faith in God's timing rather than my own," the athlete posted on Facebook.
Van Niekerk had to withdraw from his first race of the season last month after bouncing off the track after 50 meters into his 200-meter race in Trieste due to a thigh injury.
Van Niekerk's team tells Netwerk24 that there's no reason to be concerned, stating that Wayde stopped running when he felt the muscle tearing.
