Make My Monday: Rian helps a deserving family make ends meet
Updated | By The Scenic Drive with Rian
Heila Jansen of Alberton has had a spate of bad luck and reached out Rian van Heerden to see if he could make her day just a little bit better. The results were incredible.
Rian van Heerden and the Scenic Drive team strive to do just one small thing every Monday to put a smile on a listener's face.
This week the lucky listener was Heila Jansen of Alberton, whose family is in dire straits due to a recent retrenchment.
Heila reached out to Rian in an SMS, detailing her husband's retrenchment from Enterprise following the Listeriosis outbreak. She spoke of the family's struggle to pay bills and still have money left over to buy groceries.
Heila asked if Rian could make her day by helping her with one month's groceries. Rian found Cindy from Pick n Pay Family in Newmarket, Alberton, who was willing to help Heila and her family.
Hear Heila's reaction to the surprise below.
Heila was overwhelmed with emotion when Cindy announced that the Jansen family would be getting a R3000 voucher from Pick n Pay.
But that was not all. Rian also called on listeners of the Scenic Drive to help Heila's husband secure a new job.
This was truly a special Make My Monday moment for Heila.
