Man dies after trapping his head in a cinema seat

A man in Birmingham, England lost his life in a freak accident after he got his head trapped in an electric cinema seat.
24-year-old Ateeq Rafiq from Birmingham, England has died after he trapped his head in an electric cinema seat at a Vue cinema in the city.
The Sun reports that the man bent down to retrieve his phone, and that was when the leg rest of the Vue cinema Gold Class reclining cinema seat clamped down on his neck, trapping him: 'He was stuck and panicking. His partner and staff tried to free him but couldn’t.'
A security who was on duty at the time of the incident told the Mirror Online how witness acted after Ateeq lost consciousness: 'It took us 10 minutes to break the footrest and release him, and another staff member started performing CPR.'

Ateeq, who had reportedly gone into cardiac arrest at one point during the incident, was taken to hospital and placed on life support. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
Vue International has stated that there is an ongoing investigation into what went wrong in Ateeq's case. Meanwhile, the company has announced that the Gold Class experience is temporarily unavailable.
