As far as crazy ideas go, going for a jog while drunk is on the tamer side. After all, what can go wrong when you try to get some exercise in straight after a big night out?
For 32-year-old Sompong Singita, the answer is, "everything". He and his friend Songka Kamsang had reportedly had half a bottle of liquor when, at 05:00, they decided going for a jog was a good idea.
Before Singita knew it, he had fallen more than four metres into a pit of mud. The end of the pier was presumably more difficult to spot from behind a pair of beer goggles.
Rescue workers spent one hour trying to free Singita, racing against time as they willed the tide not to come in before the man was safe. Singita said he was not injured, only stuck and was sober enough to sit upright and tell local news teams who had arrived on the scene his story.
Singita told reporters: "We thought it was a good idea. The sun had just come up and the air was fresh. I'm not sure we'll go jogging again after this."
