Man threatens to shoot 11-year-old over 'Fortnite' loss

A 45-year-old New York man has been arrested after he threatened to harm an 11-year-old who beat him in Fortnite.
Fortnite has been the game at the centre of much controversy since its release in 2017. The online video game allows players from all over the world to interact as they try to make their way through various fight scenes. Groups of people form teams and spend hours playing the game, and there have been reports of some players becoming too deeply immersed in the Fortnite world.
That was perhaps the case with 45-year-old Michael Aliperti: after losing a round against an 11-year-old boy, Michael took to threatening to harm the child.
Michael reportedly sent menacing voice and text messages to the child. In one of them, he says, "I will come to your house". After the incident was reported to authorities local police increased their presence outside the boy's school. They also warned parents to keep an eye on who their children are playing games with online.
Michael has been charged with second-degree aggravated harassment as well as acting in a manner to injure a child.
