Meet our brand new game ranger Gerhard de Beer
Updated | By Scenic Drive With Rian
After the passing of our old Scenic Drive friend and game ranger Jaco Buys, his friend, Gerhard decided to help us with all our wildlife questions.
Field guide Jaco Buys worked at the Crocodile Bridge in the Kruger National Park and was crowned the Field Guide Association of South Africa’s (FGASA) best Safari guide for 2016.
For the past few years, Jaco Buys was our go-to-guy if we needed information about the wildlife.

Sadly, Buys passed away a few months ago.
His friend, Gerhard de Beer decided to help us out.
Gerhard de Beer is 30-years-old and has been a game ranger in the Kruger National Park for more than 6-years. He also completed his mentorship under Jaco Buys. Jaco also assessed him whereafter they became colleagues and after a while great friends. He was trained by Jaco de Bruyn.
He is also involved with the Environmental Crime Investigation unit. He collects data at poaching sites.
He lives in Pretoria but is in the Kruger National Park every single weekend.
He was with Jaco Buys at the time when Rian and the Complimentary Breakfast visited the Kruger National Park. The time that the team first met Jaco.
