Queensland medical staff grant man's dying wish for ice cream
Updated | By The Scenic Drive with Rian
Members of the Queensland Ambulance Service went above the call of duty to provide an ailing man with the final meal of his choice.
When ambulance officers in Australia asked 72-year-old Ron McCartney what he wanted to eat on his way to a local hospital, they did not expect that they would also be providing the man with his final meal.
The ailing man had not eaten anything substantial in the two days prior, according to his wife Sharon. The ambulance officers asked Sharon: "If we could get him anything to eat what would he eat do you think?" Ron answered right away that he wanted his favourite food: "a caramel sundae"
Ron nearly did not get his ice cream, as the ambulance was too tall "and not able to fit through the McDonald's drive-thru". The ambulance had to park across the street while Sharon went to fetch the ice cream. The Queensland Ambulance Service raised the ambulance height issue with the restaurant.

Ron was all smiles as he tucked into the sundae and Sharon was in tears as she watched her husband finally eat something. It would turn out to be his last meal, as his daughter confirmed his passing soon after a picture of him eating the dairy treat made the rounds on social media.
