Rian discusses the price of Coke vs the size of the bottle
Updated | By Nkhensani Manabe
From November, the size of your sweetened drinks will decrease, but you will still have to pay the same price.
Starting in November 2017, Coca-Cola will distribute new 440ml "buddy" bottles, and do away with the 500ml version. Additionally, the 330ml can will be replaced with a 300ml version.
These reductions are part of the company's efforts to reduce and control the amount of sugar that buyers consume.

While there is still a debate about whether the proposed sugar tax should be set at 20% or brought down closer to 10%, Health24 reports that the tax will likely be implemented in April 2018.
In the meantime, Coca-Cola is taking measures to reduce sugar consumption by changing the sizes of its bottles and cans. They are not, however, changing the prices. A press release from the company states: "In an effort to keep a balance between pricing and input costs‚ the price of the smaller packs will remain the same."

But a smaller bottle does not necessarily guarantee that people will continually drink less sugar: people may simply choose to buy more bottles to get the amount they regularly consume.
What do you think? Will you happily continue to pay the same amount of money for a smaller bottle of your favourite beverage?
