The Constitutional Court ruled on 18 September that the "banning of the private possession, consumption and cultivation" of the dagga plant was unconstitutional as it infringed on the right to privacy. This means that growing and smoking marijuana in your own home has been decriminalised.

Rian wanted to find out how the Court's ruling immediately affected average dagga users. He invited Dino dos Santos, who has been growing dagga for the last 15 years, to talk about what the way forward is for him. Dino has been arrested and charged for possession of marijuana three times, each time escaping conviction by paying a fine or pleading guilty to the charges.
