Rian and Martin team up to pay R20,000 in medical bills for a listener
Claudine Joubert wrote to The Scenic Drive asking for one thing that could brighten her day: a haircut. What she got was a lot more.
Claudine Joubert needed a simple haircut to take her mind off the mountain of medical debt she faced.
Not a makeover, not a new wardrobe, but a haircut.
But our producer saw something else in Claudine's request. He spoke to her about why she wanted a haircut and soon found out that it was the one thing that would give her a bit of respite from what has been a hectic year: Claudine spent three weeks in hospital battling pneumonia early in 2018 and has been struggling with a R18,970.39 bill.
After securing a complimentary cut and blow-wave from Palladium Hair Company, The Scenic Drive went further and found donors with open hearts who could help Claudine with her debt.
With the help of Martin Bester and Anria van Heerden of Caring Daisies, Rian was able to secure enough funds to erase Claudine's debt. Claudine was beside herself, laughing and crying at the same time as she tried to process the news.
Anria was only too happy to help, telling Claudine: "It will all be gone. You never have to lie awake at night thinking about this again."
