Shoprite and Checkers now selling locally designed black dolls

The dolls are designed locally by 'Toys with Roots' but manufactured in China.
Khana, Pula and Nandi - are proudly South African designed dolls.
Local designers and owners of 'Toys with Roots', Thabo and Mpumi Motsabi designed these dolls to show that their two young daughters can relate with the toys they play with.

The lack of representation was a big driving force behind the couple's decision to create these dolls. The local designers of the dolls told Business Insider, that they wanted to provide toys to young children which they can relate to.
Khana, Pula and Nandi are currently in stores and are being sold for R99.
