Thumb wrestling is the new form of couples therapy
Updated | By The Scenic Drive with Rian
It turns out going thumb-to-thumb with your partner is a very effective way to deal with relationship frustrations and strengthen your bond.
In a long-term relationship, teamwork is absolutely essential. In order to accomplish shared goals, you and your partner need to work together, right?
This may not be new information to you, but here's a new angle for you to consider: using thumb wars as a form of conflict resolution.
That's what Paul and Becky Browse from Suffolk have done, and it has served them well. They are currently the world's two best thumb wrestlers, and it is clear that they thoroughly enjoy testing each other's skills.
The two have competed in the World Thumb Wrestling Championships, where Paul has realised that "it’s not all about size, you can be tactical as well, like me – my thumbs are just quick and nimble and that’s what’s important".
Paul says he doesn't want any of his and Becky's three children to get involved in the sport until they are old enough, because "the competition does take its toll after a while".
The couple seems to be thriving, which means competitive thumb wrestling really is doing wonders for their relationship!
What unique conflict resolution techniques do you use in your relationships?
