WATCH: #InfluencerChallenge leaves South Africans in stitches
Updated | By Scenic Drive With Rian
The #InfluencerChallenge is taking over the internet - and we can't get enough of it.
Wondering what's trending on social media rather than politics? Well, the newest social media challenge, also known as the #InfluencerChallenge, is taking over the internet and South Africans are in stitches.
“Hi guys, welcome to my YouTube channel. Today I’m going to show you how...”
Sounds familiar? Yes, South Africans are mocking their family members by pretending to be influencers.

But how does it works? Social media users make their family and friends believe they are a real influencer and record their reactions.
In the videos, users will say stuff like they "run 10km every morning", "they don't eat red meat" or "I wake up at 5 am every morning."

Their family members know that it is not true - and while the users pretend to be influencers, they actually film their family's reactions.
