The award-winning actress Taraji P. Henson weighed in on the recent US Supreme Court ruling.
As Taraji P. Henson opened the ceremony at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, the 'Empire' actress addressed the US Supreme Court's recent overturning of the landmark Roe v Wade decision, which had protected the right to abortion nationwide but now allows individual states to make their own laws on the subject, with about 20 expected to ban terminations.
She called the decision "sad".

The 51-year-old celebrity applauded Lizzo for her collaboration with Live Nation to donate $1 million (more than R15 million) to Planned Parenthood and organizations that support abortion rights in addition to opening the show with her 2022 hit song, 'About Damn Time'.

The award-winning actress further on said, “It's a sad day in America. A weapon that can take lives has more power than a woman who can give life if she chooses to. It's about time I got that off my chest.”
