A video of a violent shooting surfaced on Twitter and many social media users claimed that the incident took place in Bedfordview, Johannesburg.
On Tuesday, 18 May, a violent video of a shooting in a restaurant surfaced on Twitter and many social media users claimed that the incident took place in Bedfordview, Johannesburg.

This is not true. The incident took place in Brazil.
According to Globo, a Brazilian outlet, the viral footage is from a restaurant shooting that took place in Jaboticaba municipality in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul.

The suspect shot the first victim in the face at point-blank range in the footage, killing him instantly.
The motive and relationship between the suspect and the first victim are still unknown.

After the first shooting, the suspect walked off and shot another victim, who was a police officer. Globo reported that the police officer tried to arrest the suspect. This led to two more gunshots and the killing of the police officer.
