Will Smith's mother, Carolyn Smith, broke her silence after her son's Oscars altercation with comedian Chris Rock.

On Sunday, Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock following a joke about his wife, who suffers from alopecia. The altercation has received various reactions.

Smith's mother, Carolyn Smith, broke her silence with a shocking statement revealing: "That's the first time I’ve ever seen him go off. The first time in his lifetime.
"I've never seen him do that."

Will has since released a lengthy statement apologising to Chris Rock which read: "Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive."
Oscar winner, 'The View' host, and Academy Governor, Whoopi Goldberg, insisted that they will not take away his Oscar.
