"You were a really good mayor" - Rian van Heerden praises former Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba

Former Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba and founder of the People's Dialogue joined the Scenic Drive to talk about his new party, politics and the future of our country.
On 22 August 2016, Mashaba was elected Mayor of Johannesburg by the first sitting of the city council following countrywide local government elections. He announced his resignation on 21 October 2019.
Mashaba who is the founder of the People's Dialogue, joined the Scenic Drive to share more his party and his plan for the future.
The former Johannesburg mayor said his newly formed party will ensure that the power is placed back in the hands of the residents.
"There is no name yet, however, for now, we use the People's Dialogue. The name of the party will come from South Africans.
"All our counsellors will be elected by the members of the public and not by us as party members."
Rian van Heerden fired a few quick questions to the former mayor:
Rian: "How are do you feel about the Springboks?"
Mashaba: "Every time I travel, I brag about them."
Rian: "How do you feel about Helen Zille?"
Mashaba: "I'm personally really disappointed in Helen Zille."
Rian van Heerden praised Mashaba for being a good mayor, "You were a really good mayor."
