Youngest mayor in SA gets five years of consecutive clean audits

Mayor Bongani Baloyi joined Rian van Heerden on Wednesday to talk about what it takes to run a successful municipality.
In 2013, Executive Mayor Bongani Baloyi (32) made history when he became executive mayor of Midvaal Local Municipality, marking him as the youngest mayor in South Africa.

For five consecutive years, Midvaal Local Municipality has been the only municipality in Gauteng that received a clean audit.
Mayor Baloyi celebrated this incredible achievement and thanked his committed personnel and the willingness of senior management who go the extra mile. "It's an incredibly hard job - but we must get things done."
The 32-year-old also commented on being South Africa's youngest mayor: "I'm young and I take my job seriously - but I also enjoy my work."
"All South Africans want things to work and that is my job to do so," he added.
