Shaun Lukhele in a Nutshell

Jacaranda FM DJ Shaun Lukhele could possibly be on his way to sainthood.

When he is not staying up to date with the latest spots news, or having a “lekker braai”, he is giving his food away to the poor.

Yes, Shaun is a philanthropist in the making.

But there’s more to this young and talented radio host than meets the eye. 

Shaun is a free spirit and believes the world is his oyster.

“Being young contributes to that as well. Try out as many things as possible while you still have the time. There is nothing to lose!”

Despite all the negativity in the world, Shaun says he always keeps a positive outlook on life.

He takes his life motto from an inspirational Leif Garrett quote:  “I’ve come to understand that there’s always something positive, even in a negative situation.”

“Except when Japan beat South Africa in the World Cup, nothing positive about that situation,” Shaun adds.

But the Springboks’ 64-0 win against team USA definitely lifted his spirits.

He may, or may not, have obsessive-compulsive disorder tendencies. 

“Ever met a person who double-checks everything? Even going back to check if the car is locked several times, who checks that his text message is grammatically correct? Well, welcome to Shaun’s world!”

Shaun feels guilty when he sees beggars at a stop street or traffic light.

He is so generous that the packet of McDonald’s or KFC in the back seat that was meant for his baby cousin could easily find itself in the hands of someone less fortunate.

He is a leader 

“I was head boy at my high school during my matric year in 2012. That was one of my biggest achievements, before joining SA’s biggest independent commercial radio station.”
